Art

I thought they did a great job hitting all of the stereotypes. Were there some things said that were offensive .. of course, some people IRL are offensive.

Company: The Bearded Company
Show: Swords & Sorcery: The Improvised Fantasy Campaign
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Improv +

Improv on steroids.

Company: Imagined Theatre
Show: A Part of Me
Venue: Southern Theater

Sad and true

As a social worker type person I really appreciated the honesty and truth of the message. It was well written, directed and performed! Wonderful work!

Company: Erin Sheppard Presents
Show: Book of Shadows
Venue: Theatre in the Round

My Fav of Erin's shows so far!!

I have seen a few of Erin's shows, this is my favorite so far! The storytelling was captivating and the dancing was amazing - telling their own stories. Beautiful!

Company: Oncoming Productions
Show: Geminae
Venue: Southern Theater

But, how?

So polished. Great lighting and sound, the light and sound a tually made this show. And the special effects are spot on. Brilliant!

Company: Nightfox Stage Productions
Show: My 4 Bodies
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio

personal story

It's hard to critique such a personal story. I saw this on the last night and the script was still being held in hand, this was distracting. There were several "voices" being expressed and were a bit confusing and hard to follow. I appreciate the difficulty and putting ones self out there with a personal story, I would like to see it again in a more polished presentation.

Company: Blinking Eye Theatre
Show: Swipe Right
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

A company to watch!

This show was the right amount of silly comedy and thought provoking material. Well executed, written and staged. I am excited to follow this company in their future endeavors!

Company: Flash Grenade Productions
Show: The Flashlight Zone: 20 Science Fiction Plays in One Hour
Venue: Theatre in the Round

fast paced

I am always impressed with actors who can jump to action at a moments notice and change tacks. It was fun to see so many little stories, also it was hard to stay focused on each story since I would just get into one and it would change.

Company: Grand Island Theatre
Show: Hamlet, but Hamlet's a Chicken
Venue: Minnsky Theatre

Fringe, for fringe sake

I am all about being fringey - and this is for sure the fringiest of the fringes... Maybe it is just the farm girl in me, but chickens aren't funny.. I know, this will be an unpopular opinion. This show is very creative and I applaud their uniqueness, and parts made me laugh (to be fair I was generally laughing at the audience laughing at a chicken though).

Company: Mosaic Productions
Show: Hidden in This Picture
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Cows in the shot

Great use of the space. I was distracted by one of the actors ill-fitting clothes - it didn't make sense as a specific choice for that character. Overall well acted. It seemed to be missing something, sound design possibly?

Company: Tom Reed
Show: Gunplay!
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Thoughts and Prayers

The right amount of funny and preachy and romance and singing and silliness. The end was a little unfulfilling, but maybe that's the point!!

Company: Weggel-Reed Productions
Show: Couple Fight: The Musical!
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

laughed till I cried

I was THAT person who was laughing so hard that I got the stink eye from the ppl in front of me. I left with chest and stomach pain...from laughing! The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because a couple of the fights chose not to use mics and I had a difficult time understanding them over the keyboard, would have liked to hear it all!

Company: The Coldharts
Show: Eddie Poe
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Slow start

It started really slowly for me, and then all of a sudden we were off and I was captivated. Good use of space. One actor played many roles, and she did it well!

Company: Paper Soul
Show: SOFT
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Horror light

Creepy. However lacking something. The character study of it was interesting and I liked the concept. The ending was confusing, I can't say more than that without it being a spolier.

Company: Hit the Lights! Theater Co.
Show: WHALES
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

A talented PSA

This may be the most talented bunch of artists to hit fringe stages. Each individual has extraordinary talent, however the show lacked integrating the talent into the cohesive production that it could have been. The live music and storytelling via shadow puppets was brilliant, the game show piece sorta took me out of the moment. It was an artful talented public service announcement about whaling vs the storytelling that I was expecting. I would still highly recommend it for the crazy talent displayed!!

Company: Albino Squirrel Productions
Show: Doug Sees God: A Funnie Thing Happened on the Way to Adulthood
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Kitchy, in a good way

It tackles the issues facing young adults is a funnie and kitchy way. It has a few good laughs. I enjoyed the choice of music during transitions.

Company: Mermaid Productions
Show: Have You Seen This Girl?
Venue: Hard Times Cafe

Wanting a resolution when there isn't one...

This is one of those "shows" that you leave wanting more, wanting a resolution, wanting closure... But, the frustration of not having a resolution seems like the most authentic feeling to have.

Company: Sheep Theater
Show: Kaboom
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

fast and funny

A fast paced comedy that will keep you laughing. A must see for your fringe list.

Company: TROMPE L'OEIL
Show: Bits & Bobs: An Evening of Short Plays
Venue: Theatre in the Round

5 shorts

I loved 1-3 and 5 of the 5 shorts stories. Each were either thought provoking or very funny. The 4th I struggled to understand what was happening. All of the actors were spot on in each of the various characters that they played. I always enjoy a well directed show in the round, bravo!

Company: Reliquaries
Show: And What You Find There
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio

Clever

Everything I would want an Alice tale to be! Great use of silence and music and space and props... And... Well... I am inspired to read the Alice stories again. A brilliant show!

Company: Bittersweet Arts Co.
Show: Forsythian Dweller's Club
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Has the potential to be a 5

It felt like first night jitters? The script is great! The actors, in general, felt rushed and I had a difficult time following some of the dialogue and I wish I could have understood it all! The music was so loud that even as the actors yelled they were difficult to hear.

Company: New Endeavors
Show: The Buttslasher
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Dunitt again

Good work again, New Endeavors Productions! A nice remount, if you saw it last year it is worth the second look-see; a few different actors and... Well... I won't spoil it for you... Just get your butt over to one of their seats!
