Venue: Strike Theater

Clowns Clowned

Always fun to see clowns doing their thing and this group is VERY GOOD at it! Thanks for the chuckles, enjoyed the show!

Company: Colleen Somerville Productions
Show: Not Fair, My Lady!
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Perfection on every level!!

Please, Please, Please, continue doing this show after Fringe!! Ladies you have something here that NEEDS to be shared!! Stellar performance! Exceptional writing! Expand this to a full length production and you will have butts in seats!!!

Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: Slapdash Panic: Comedy Suitcase ended up in the Fringe Festival with 3 weeks notice and no show!
Venue: Strike Theater

This is what we get with no preparation??

OMG!!! Can't wait to see something you actually have written! LOL. This was so much fun!! Thank you for saying 'YES'!

Company: Bill Santiago
Show: The Immaculate Big Bang
Venue: Strike Theater

You'll laugh out loud!

Fast paced but a bit chaotic and somewhat awkward at times. I did however enjoy this performance very much. Sound was slightly loud for the space. Could have probably done without the mic. If you need to fill one of those precious few time slots remaining - stop in for this one!

Company: Fearless Comedy Productions
Show: Deep in The 100 Acre Woods: A "Pooh"-dunnit?
Venue: Minnsky Theatre

Oh Bother!

I've never liked Pooh and was excited for the bear to get 'stuffed' but this needs some tweaking and comes off a bit stiff. Pacing felt rushed and character development needs some work. Half of the cast really nailed their characters, the other half not so much. Super concept for the Fringe though!

Company: Sister Shakes
Show: Proof! An Alien Abduction Pop Musical
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Too Familiar

I felt like I've seen this before - not exactly this show - but so many like it that this wasn't a stand out for me. Performance and writing are fine, I just felt there wasn't much depth to the storyline and it was difficult to keep my attention focused (especially for a 10:00 show). But hey - it keeps selling out so maybe I'm missing something. It was entertaining, just in my opinion, not very memorable.

Company: Impossible Salt
Show: The Member of Some Gods
Venue: Casket Arts Building

So Different!

Love this idea, I just had hoped for a bit more. I know it's only an hour - more reason to use every minute to it's maximum. The actors gave a wonderful performance and were doing fairly well getting the audience to participate. I just needed more of a developed storyline. I hope we continue to see you at Fringe, I'd definitely be interested in seeing future works!

Company: Theory of Dance
Show: Theory of Relativity
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio

Enjoyable

I am definitely getting a better appreciation for dance pieces this year! And what a variety. This piece was delightfully different from anything we've seen so far this year. A nice addition to your show list if you're looking for a unique dance experience.

Company: Universal Dance Destiny
Show: African Roads, American Streets
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Disappointed

This show had so much potential to be a good piece but has missed the mark. It felt like everyone was improvising throughout the performance. They are some really good dancers here and with some organization and rehearsal this could be a solid show. At this point it feels like the early stages of starting to create their show not a finished piece.

Company: minnerican productions
Show: Broken English, Mother Tongue
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

FABULOUS!

Time flew - wish he could have kept going. Beautiful story and told incredibly well!

Company: The Coldharts
Show: Eddie Poe
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

So Happy They're Back!

The Coldharts 'Edgar Allen' was amazing - I was so thrilled they were back with more!! Written superbly and performed immaculately! Can't wait to see what's next!!!

Company: Jaded Optimist Productions
Show: Animal, Vegetable, Political
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Missed the stories.

It's not that I didn't enjoy this show - I did, but I missed the stories. I would really like to see this idea realized as a talk back with a longer duration - I'd be there! Trying to contain this to an hour really limits the possibilities of where it could go. Howard and Loren are ALWAYS on my must see list!

Company: On the Verge Theatre
Show: Boobilicious
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Did I miss something??

I've been reading the other reviews and I'm thinking maybe I should have seen this on a different time slot. I was pumped for this but that balloon quickly deflated. The 'Barbie Song" is adorable though. For me it didn't flow and sorry Ladies but the vocals during this performance were at times difficult to sit through. There are so many possibilities to improve this piece - keep tweaking - I'd be willing to give it another shot.

Company: Foxlin
Show: Next: The Musical (A Sidekick Story)
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Oh the feels!!

WOW! Fabulous performance of an imaginative and well written piece! Definitely reserve this one or you will miss the opportunity to see it!

Company: Shrieking Harpies
Show: Shrieking Harpies
Venue: Augsburg Studio

How do they do it?!?!?

An entire improvised one hour musical off an audience suggestion - unbelievably wonderful! Quick wit and beautiful voices make for a must see production. No 2 shows the same!

Company: Say It Loud Productions
Show: Revolt of the Beavers
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Dam Good!

Strong performances throughout. Felt geared to a younger audience but enough adult material to keep you engaged. Exactly what we 'Fringe' to see!

Company: Backyard to Broadway Productions
Show: Right, Wrong or Bomb! A Dating Musical
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Super Fun!

Lighthearted fun. Liked everything about this show! Definite add to your must see list!

Company: Rooftop Theatre Company
Show: The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged)
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

My Geek is showing!

SPLENDID! This show is well conceived, written, and definitely performed! If you love/hate William Shatner you will experience an hour (give or take) of non-stop humor!!

Company: Literally Entertainment
Show: The Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist or, Ocean's 'Eh'T?: A Musical
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Another hit!

Keep them coming! Witty and well performed. L.E.P. has done it again!

Company: Snikt! Bamf! Thwip!
Show: A Family Friendly Pulp Fiction (Not Appropriate for Families)
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Get your Butt (heehee) in a seat!

Oh sooooooo clever! Familiarity with the movie is an asset or you may not fully appreciate the incredible writing in this show but don't let that stop you form seeing it! The cast performances are spot-on. Milking Fructose I'm hooked on Pixie Stix again!!

Company: The Rest of Us
Show: An Odyssey Backwards and in Heels
Venue: Minnsky Theatre

When did I get OLD!

I probably would have enjoyed this more if I was 20 or so years younger. I did laugh on several occasions - however they lost me with some less than appealing vocal performances.

Company: The Winding Sheet Outfit
Show: Blood Nocturne
Venue: Southern Theater

10 X 2

Is it too early to say this could very easily be my favorite production in the 2018 Fringe? I almost passed on this one because the description didn't grab my interest much but horror (and musicals) are my genres and this more than fulfilled my love of both. The cast is polished and invested. The writing perfection. The venue perfect. This is absolutely one of those Fringe shows you will talk about, remember, and hope to see again - I know I will!

Company: Erin Sheppard Presents
Show: Book of Shadows
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Perfect for Fringe

Very entertaining. I enjoyed the narration/stories. Choreography and dance performances were wonderful. Worth seeing!

Company: Weggel-Reed Productions
Show: Couple Fight: The Musical!
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

It's not Fringe without 'Couple Fight'

You haven't Fringed if you don't have 'Couple Fight' on your must see list! Loved the musical take on this years production! Extremely talented group of actors! Even though the venue is large don't be surprised if it's a sell out the rest of the run - reserve your seats while you still can!

Company: Albino Squirrel Productions
Show: Doug Sees God: A Funnie Thing Happened on the Way to Adulthood
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

OK if you liked 'Doug'

Just not my 'thing'. Nothing wrong with the performance, just content that wasn't very relatable/interesting to me. This was a pick of my lovely daughter whom I've 'Fringed' with for the past 5 years. She enjoyed it more than I so I'm happy we were able to include it.

Company: Navel Gaze Productions
Show: Fringe Orphans 4: Back in the Habit
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Had hoped for more

Considering the cast I had really hoped for more but I'm afraid this one didn't ignite any fireworks. There are a couple ideas here that could start the fuse with a bit more development and rehearsal though.

Company: Tom Reed
Show: Gunplay!
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Perfect for Fringe

I really enjoyed this production. The cast put on a great performance and the piece is written well and interesting. Funny and thought provoking. Definitely worth one of your precious show choices.

Company: Play-Dot
Show: Midwestworld
Venue: Southern Theater

What do you need after solid Fringing for 4 days?

Something completely silly! This was a very nice end to the first weekend for me. Not dripping in political satire or brain challenging thought. Just...….silly.

Company: Michael Rogers
Show: Now We See It
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Happy To Have Seen It

Due to a sell out at Minsky we headed back to Ritz to pick this one up and definitely got the better show! Well written, wonderfully performed, and intriguing. Grateful for the opportunity to slip this one in. If you haven't already - add this one to your list!

Company: Philip Simondet
Show: Self-Titled Debut Album
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Fun & Funny

Took a chance and was very happy we did. Laughed out loud through the entire show! The songs are hilarious! See this one if you're looking to laugh yourself silly!

Company: Ruckus Productions
Show: Sidesplitting
Venue: Theatre in the Round

ROH ROH

Not all ideas pan out well and unfortunately this is one of those. My mother always said 'If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'. So...….

Company: Paper Soul
Show: SOFT
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Hmmmmmm Did I like it?

More yes than no. Performances by the actors were fine but I felt the script could be more developed. The concept could play out for a superior horror piece with a bit of tweaking.

Company: Fearnot Dance
Show: Stark Dance: Politics Religion Sex
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

And I usually avoid dance shows........

Finding more dance productions in our choices this year and getting blown away by some incredible talent! From beginning to end this production is a visual gift from these amazing dancers!

Company: The Bearded Company
Show: Swords & Sorcery: The Improvised Fantasy Campaign
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Brilliant!

Each show is a continuation of the previous one but you don't NEED to have seen the previous one to keep up. Many devoted fans are attending all of the performances so RESERVE YOUR SEATS NOW or you will miss out on one of the best shows of the 2018 Fringe!!

Company: Flash Grenade Productions
Show: The Flashlight Zone: 20 Science Fiction Plays in One Hour
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Doesn't Disappoint

Several of these stories, although short, were very compelling. The actors keep this one rolling at rocket speed!

Company: Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society
Show: The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society Versus the Nazis
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Always Enjoyable

The cast is what makes this show work. The selections this year were not as entertaining as last year in my opinion but the performance, as always, was spot on. Will always be a must see show for us as long as they are doing Fringe!

Company: Clevername Theatre
Show: THE NEWS: A Musical
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Extra Extra No

Gotta give ya stars for effort but the content wasn't there. They did the best with what they had. I wasn't expecting 'Newsies' by any means but this probably would have had a better shot had it not been written as a musical, but even then.....probably not.

Company: Gabriel Mata/Movements
Show: DREAMING
Venue: Southern Theater

DON'T MISS THIS ONE!

We accidently stumbled on Gabriel's performance at last years Fringe and were overwhelmed by the talent this man possesses. Didn't hesitate to make this a MUST SEE for this year. Gabriel is an extremely talented dancer but his wit and creativity make his performances even more outstanding. Typically dance features are scarce on my que but 'DREAMING' was among the TOP OF MY LIST!

Company: Bittersweet Arts Co.
Show: Forsythian Dweller's Club
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

WOW!

WOW - what just happened!! I was very entertained by this piece. In the beginning I thought it was going to be slow, maybe a bit over my head as I wasn't immediately engaged. But from there on, what a ride! Original, fast paced, and well performed!

Company: Heidi Arneson
Show: ITCHY TINGLES
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Unique

During the performance I was somewhat conflicted as to how I felt about this piece. But I kept getting sucked in deeper and deeper and by the end she had me! The music is fabulous and the story telling a little quirky. Definitely different and a good add to your list.

Company: WalthWorks
Show: Locker Room Talk
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Pleasantly Surprised

The exact opposite of what I was expecting and I'm so happy it was! I thought this piece was very clever and written well. Being the first staging I won't get critical on performances, which for the most part were very good, but I expect will improve with each show. I really enjoyed this piece and would happily recommend adding it to your line up.
