TILLY, stealer of hearts

I cry-laughed through this entire show. Has there ever been anything so perfectly Fringe-y? I was so happy to see people my age on stage with such brilliant ideas (scene after scene after scene) supporting the PAWS people. Tilly the chicken stole my heart and I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Everything is magic.

Applause.

I've never seen a Sheep show before, but I'm so glad this was my first one. I had so much fun and laughed a whole lot. Each character went far from a trope and lived in their unique, dark hilarity. The thing that really got me was the music, it is so well done. Yay!

I FEEL SEEN

Well freaking done. This is an entirely well crafted play, with specificity in it's writing, acting and direction. There is lady friendship, incredible truths of relationships and so much fun in the meantime. I felt like this needed to be turned into a tv show because theres a lot of story here, that despite it being fringe didn't seem to lack due to the time limit. These characters have lives beyond the hour. I related most to the single gal who knows she should go on dates but can't will herself to swipe, Dani does an excellent job with balancing her sardonic sense of the relationships with her life while not making her completely glum. Morgan and Emily had WONDERFUL chemistry and did well to show the beautiful scope of loving another human and Lilly worked her comedic ass off with her lovable, flighty character. The show moved swiftly and thoughtfully along with the magic that is a writer/director team that knows each other really well and the story their trying to tell well. YAY.

Freaking Delightful.

I was a little scared about 5 minutes in that all this would be is a lecture, but oh boy did the Reverend Matt Kessen pull it off. I laughed throughout the entire thing - with this intelligent well created humor. There were so many jokes that just kept on goin going and going in your head... I laughed so hard. W I don't know anything about the Jurassic Park movies and so I was a tiny bit confused at moments but that feels like a me thing. Laughing forever. Thank goodness.

The Perfect Show for the Southern Theater

Golly, this show was absolutely beautiful. The Southern couldn't have been more well suited for these guys and their lovely staging. All of their effects were strong and powerful. The music though lulling, was interesting and very well suited to the beautiful Emily Dussault. Crazy wonderful cast, staging and story. I maybe missed a bit of the story, but putting on a show about a flawed forgotten historical figure that intersects with our fact-missing society that we live in today. The show reminded me that we must write down our stories and tell them and share our experiences because history will skew the lives we are living today.

Perfection.

I cannot rave more about this show. The perfect pace, story and human being to be on stage at the Mixed Blood. I laughed and cried by eyes out. Javier is perfect and I fell in love with him for opening his heart up to us. The perfect mixture of humanhood and laughter. How refreshing it is to be given such a whole insight into another human AND IT WAS JUST AN HOUR. Javier asks us to show up for this whole 60 minutes and then show up for Puerto Rico. I WANT EVERYONE TO SEE THIS. Applause applause applause. I don't even have words that accurately articulate why this show is so important, and I haven't felt that way in a long time.

Show: Couple Fight: The Musical!
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

The Best Yet especially cause Lady Friendship

This is my favorite couple fight, hands down. Anna and everyone involved challenged themselves and the challenge made a better and more hilarious, brilliant show. Each couple brings something so very different to the stage. I'm glad there are more people and each scene is shorter this year, along with the huge variety of music that comes with each fight. PLUS LADY FRIENDSHIP SONG is perfect.

Refreshing - make that reservation now!

After slot after slot in the theater, it was so refreshing to be asked to think about the space we are inhabiting this whole festival: the West Bank. Ariel has crafted a show that intersects so many aspects of humanhood: what it means to be a young person, the changing neighborhood, drugs and alcohol abuse, being a bystander, what it means to help when you weren't asked to, and the diversity of home lives and comfortability and connection that exists in the world. I so so appreciate this. I am so glad this show exists.

Beauty

It is brilliant to see Shanan take risks and do something she's never done before (a one woman show) in the MN Fringe when she's are already a Fringe Queen, even when it was by accident. All of the sketches are lovely and admirable and delightfully funny. The final bit was my favorite because I smiled and laughed and raised my hands for the entire 4 minutes 13 seconds. Claps for this and being an adventurous artists, what could be more fringe-y than this magic Shanan experience.

Company: HFS
Show: Wonder and Awe: A Play About Magic
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Wonder and no magic!

This cast is so clearly wonderfully talented - each person on stage brought great energy and excitement and talent to their roles! However, I sat on the far stage right side of the theater and couldn't hear a lot of what was being said and couldn't see a lot of the performances. I'm mostly just kind of upset cause for all I counted there was only one true magic trick! There was too much going on for me and I felt like I was laughing at stuff that wasn't intentionally funny. The underscoring did do a lot of the work and was wonderfully done, but overall I just don't feel like watching another show in the fringe that mainly features and is written by three white guys. I might be a jerk for saying that but the show's story (and maybe purpose) didn't pull me in enough to make my hour feel worth it.
