In Your Face Funny!

Mr. Harris' self-deprecating humor makes for a great show. He plays to his weaknesses with reckless abandon. This show was very energetic and captivating.

Company: Erin Sheppard Presents
Show: Book of Shadows
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Nicely Done!

I enjoyed the mix of storytelling and dance. This show worked very well in the space, and the cast was wonderful. The choreography was inventive and reflective of the stories. Very entertaining.

Company: Threepenny Productions
Show: Fools, Errant
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Enjoyable show!

Enticing! These two are fun to watch. They play off each other extremely well, and the show moves quickly. It's often silly, but a good time. The very inventive script is in good hands with this cast.

Company: GIRL Theatre
Show: Gay Hot American Summer
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Camp Campy!

This was everything I thought it would be. Silly, campy, and humorous, I enjoyed the performances of the entire cast. The characters are all quirky and engrossing in their own way, and the script is delightful. Although there were some slow spots scattered throughout, the show, for the most part, I really did enjoy it.

Company: Heidi Arneson
Show: ITCHY TINGLES
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Beautiful accompaniment

I loved the guitar as background to this performance - very nice touch! The script/story was engaging, but the delivery had me on edge; with each sentence ending in an elongated pronunciation of the last word, it became off-putting. I do think Heidi is a good performer, and her expressions are fun to watch.

Company: Sheep Theater
Show: Kaboom
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Good fun!

This zany, high-spirited script was hilarious and clever. The hi-jinx didn't stop for one second, as the well-rounded ensemble delivered an outstanding performance. Very enjoyable!

Company: Some Lady's Production
Show: The Phone Sex Play
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Nice but empty

Although I found Sierra to be a fine performer, the material was predictable and fairly uninteresting.

Company: Oncoming Productions
Show: Geminae
Venue: Southern Theater

Powerful

This moody piece is so engrossing. I loved it. It is well executed, makes good use of the space, and has a top notch cast!

Company: Fine, Poke The Wasp Productions
Show: I, Eternal
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Emotional

This one was a pleasant surprise! This cast is very young and often play parts that are at least twice their age, yet they pull this show off nicely. The dramatic script is immediately engrossing and pulled me in from the very beginning. Nicely done!

Company: Shrieking Harpies
Show: Shrieking Harpies
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Nicely Done

This was an enjoyable performance. All three skilled women were on their toes to create this impromptu show. It was amusing and entertaining.

Company: Blinking Eye Theatre
Show: Swipe Right
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Cute

This very simple show is a nice concept and a good reflection on current online dating. The literal ROTFL was perfect! The cast is strong and obviously has a great time performing this one. Lots of fun!

Company: So Shall I
Show: Estate of Affairs
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio

Alluring and Entertaining!

This was a lot of fun. The accomplished cast pulls off this farce nicely. It's a great, entertaining script, with some amusing twists. The mood of the play was much like a screwball comedy from the 30's, but with contemporary content. I had a great time!

Company: Grand Island Theatre
Show: Hamlet, but Hamlet's a Chicken
Venue: Minnsky Theatre

Silly Good Fun!

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This show had me in stitches the entire time! The intelligent and talented cast pulls off some of the zaniest gags that I've ever seen in a fringe show. Every scene was comically twisted. Get your reservation on this one, as it's been selling out quickly!

Company: Nightfox Stage Productions
Show: My 4 Bodies
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio

Energetic and Robust

This captivating show is sensitive and insightful. Erin gives a find performance, carrying us through all the emotions of the main characters personal life. Well done!

Company: The Skyline Collective
Show: Wasn't This Supposed to Be a Musical?
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Visionary

This really was a stunningly beautiful show. The score was intelligent and inventive, accompanied by a tremendous 4-piece combo. The entire cast was outstanding in their roles, and the simple set worked well. [And that SOFA-thing... what was that? A transformer? I want that!] The cast all had superb voices and carried the musical numbers well. I would love to see this one as an expanded full production. NICE!

Company: minnerican productions
Show: Broken English, Mother Tongue
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Javier has another fine show!

I caught this one because his entry in last year's Fringe was fantastic. He doesn't let us down this year, as he expands on his previous story. He is entertaining, funny, and has a fascinating story. I especially appreciated the guts he had to drop the last section of his show to talk about the current state of Puerto Rico and the US. He speaks for his people and his home, and does so quite eloquently. Catch this one if you can!

Company: Jamie Brickhouse
Show: Dangerous When Wet: Booze, Sex, and My Mother
Venue: Augsburg Studio

In Your Face FUN!

Jamie's no holds barred approach to his storytelling is mesmerizing. His personal drama, told most effectively through his comedic skills, was captivating. This is a well-crafted show!

Company: Tom Reed
Show: Gunplay!
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

"Chemistry!"

What a fun show. Of course anything Mr. Reed puts together is bound to be a laugh riot. This show is no exception. It's topical, often hilarious, clever, and moves quickly. The cast were all great and played well off one another. See it!

Company: One Dance Company
Show: She Says, "ENOUGH!"
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Uplifting!

I enjoyed this a lot! These powerful messages told through dance were skillfully performed by the entire group. I saw some really beautiful movement in this show. Nicely done!

Company: Red Dice Collective
Show: Cyrano on the Moon
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio

Enchanting and imaginative

This was really fun to watch. Great costumes, and nice sword fight scenes. The energetic and strong cast carries this piece nicely to a beautiful conclusion. I had no idea where the story was going, but was pleasantly surprised. Nice use of the minimal set.

Company: The Coldharts
Show: Eddie Poe
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Diddle me this!

I really loved this one. The cast was fantastic and really brought the fine script to life - a little dark, a little funny. They both made great use of the Ritz space. Katie and Nick played well off each other, and Katie's musical numbers were fantastic! So fun!

Company: Clevername Theatre
Show: THE NEWS: A Musical
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Nice, but falls short

A talented and solid cast did a nice job with what they had to work with. The score detracted more than helped this show, but the script was fun and engaging.

Company: Hit the Lights! Theater Co.
Show: WHALES
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Rocking good fun!

I had no idea what to expect from this one, and was surprised all around. Highly energetic, this show was engaging, with some great music, puppetry, and a cast that pumped up and worked the audience. AND... we got to learn more about the whaling industry, so YEAH! Check this one out!

Company: NEPTUNE
Show: A Farewell to Armadillos
Venue: Strike Theater

Unexpected joy

Not a fan of clowns here, but word of mouth got me to this show. Glad I made it, because it was thoroughly enjoyable! The script was creative and clever, and all the scenes flowed together nicely. A very talented cast presented an unusual show that has something for everyone. Catch this one!

Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: Slapdash Panic: Comedy Suitcase ended up in the Fringe Festival with 3 weeks notice and no show!
Venue: Strike Theater

No planned show? What could possibly go wrong?

Everything and nothing. This mish-mash of an on the spot performance was carried off nicely by Scrimshaw and Weinhagen. They work well together, and compliment each other's talents. Lots of fun!

Company: Libra Moon Productions
Show: There Goes the Gayborhood
Venue: Strike Theater

There was potential...

... as the script was pretty creative, despite the flaming stereotypes. The cast was not able to pull this one together though. I found it sloppy and unrehearsed. I really wanted to like this one much more.

Company: See-Saw Theater Lab
Show: The Womyn's Mysteries
Venue: Minnsky Theatre

Nice concept

Although the script was intriguing, the execution left a lot to be desired. It seemed like the cast was just reading lines any trying to be dramatic, and there was movement for the sake of movement. I really wanted this one to work because the stories are important and under-told. The last ten minutes did come together nicely.

Company: Gabriel Mata/Movements
Show: DREAMING
Venue: Southern Theater

Quite beautiful

What an impressive dance performance. Even his warm-up before the show was captivating. Although Gabriel's story didn't really gel with me, his physical movements were visually breathtaking.

Company: Three Crazy Sons
Show: Flipping Off Our Lord
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Didn't grab me at all

Interesting enough, but really didn't do anything for me.

Company: Mosaic Productions
Show: Hidden in This Picture
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Clever and fun

I really enjoyed this one. The cast was great, and the script was humorous. I believe this one was lacking in direction though, as the comedic timing was a bit slow and had the potential to be a fast-paced comedy. Hopefully this talented cast will pick up the pace and run with it. Good laughs all around!

Company: The Young Company
Show: How to Fix It
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Nice performance of an uneven production

Although I enjoyed all of the individual actor's performances, this show left me with nothing. I didn't feel the scenes flowed and nothing really grabbed me throughout the entire show. The script seemed to have so much potential, but I left simply wanting much more.

Company: Colleen Somerville Productions
Show: Not Fair, My Lady!
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Me too! Me too!

What a great, all-around, talented cast. This quickly paced musical has lots of laughs on a topical subject without being preachy. I keep thinking "What the hell? Carousel?", and this show reiterates my thoughts about Broadway's, and theatre in general's, choices. Fun, lively, and extremely entertaining!

Company: Flash Grenade Productions
Show: The Flashlight Zone: 20 Science Fiction Plays in One Hour
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Rapid Fire Fun

Perfect fringe fair, this one was wild and fun. Twenty scripts in no particular order, the cast was obviously having as much fun as we were. Catch this one!

Company: Ghoulish Delights, LLC
Show: The Screaming Skull
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Mysterious and Moody

This is the perfect vehicle for Eric, whose storytelling is absolutely captivating. The foley sound effects added another fine layer to the show. This topped my full day of fringing. Catch it!

Company: Snikt! Bamf! Thwip!
Show: A Family Friendly Pulp Fiction (Not Appropriate for Families)
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Good concept, needs a little work

I love the cast members for this show and was expecting more, but the script was a bit uneven. There were some fun bits, and granted it was the first slot in the fringe, so I'm thinking this will quickly even out and become a real good show.

Company: Theatre Unbound
Show: A Gertrude Stein Christmas
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Lackluster

The script was a bit confusing, and the entire piece dragged. There were no stand-out performances, and I left with nothing.

Company: Mainly Me Productions
Show: A Justice League of Their Own
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Clever and fun

Fun concept and quickly paced, this great ensemble piece has plenty of laughs.

Company: TROMPE L'OEIL
Show: Bits & Bobs: An Evening of Short Plays
Venue: Theatre in the Round

"Something for everyone" indeed

For the most part, I enjoyed this show. Several pieces are much stronger than others. The squirrel story had me laughing throughout.

Company: JoZanephine Originals
Show: For The Love Of ...
Venue: Southern Theater

Beautiful script and lovely performances

The first ten minutes were a bit awkward, but then the cast slipped right into what they were doing and carried the script through all of the beautiful moments, bringing it to a nice conclusion. I was totally engrossed in this story, and loved the characters and dialog. Very touching and highly recommended!

Company: Navel Gaze Productions
Show: Fringe Orphans 4: Back in the Habit
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Yep - Unicorn sex! LOL

Lots of fun with these short pieces. Washington's unicorn bit was great fun, and Schlosser's take on gay dating was a laugh riot! There's a reason this show is back for it's fourth incarnation. Check it out!

Company: Berlin Productions
Show: I Never Knock
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Nothing to see here

So unrehearsed, it was painful to watch.

Company: Martin Dockery
Show: Martin Dockery: Delirium
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

"The Hands" have it

Once again, Martin brings his personal stories to the stage. One of the most captivating storytellers in the Fringe, I am always mesmerized when listening to him. This one is equal parts poignant and hilarious.

Company: Audacity Theatre Lab
Show: Robert's Eternal Goldfish
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Nice and angry

Lots of anger in this one, especially in the beginning, but it is a nicely told story, and ends on a nice noted.

Company: Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society
Show: The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society Versus the Nazis
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Returning to the scene of the crime

As in last year's entry, this is another nice installment of the radio mystery genre. They were well-prepared and the entire cast give solid performances. Very engaging!

Company: Monster Science Productions
Show: What To Do In Case Of Dinosaur Attack
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

My face still hurts from laughing!

OMG, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Kessen delivers this lecture with a straight face, and every line is hysterical. The PowerPoint illustrations add a whole extra layer to the fun. Perfect material for the fringe! Put this on your DON'T MISS list!

Company: The Winding Sheet Outfit
Show: Blood Nocturne
Venue: Southern Theater

Beautiful show

Really, this is a beautiful show. Costumes, music (live, by the cast), nice script, and performed by an extremely talented cast. Very will polished and visually exciting.

Company: Weggel-Reed Productions
Show: Couple Fight: The Musical!
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

This annual tradition still has it!

Yep, I just always put this on my list of shows to see. Always fun, and I never know what's going to happen, but it's a guaranteed fun time. Allison Witham gets my vote for best laugh riot of the whole piece, but everyone was wonderful. Do check it out.

Company: Concrete Drops
Show: Inescapable
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Fun journey!

Fantastic script, and probably an actor's nightmare to memorize (see it and you'll know what I mean). I was completely engaged, trying to figure it where the story was going, with interesting twists each step of the way. Great performances. Don't miss this one!

Company: Custer & Schmidt
Show: Our Best Life
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Now... HER Best Life!

Changing up the show at the last minute due to her partner getting THE job must have been a real challenge for Shanan... for about FIVE SECONDS. She modified it, improvised, and gave us a charming and often hysterical show. Shanan is a boatload of talent and always great to watch. This one will not disappoint!
