The Hallmark Channel of Fringe
When you watch a movie on the Hallmark Channel, you know it's not going to be an award winner, but some people can't get enough. This show is for them, and I mean that in the nicest way. Stakes are relatively low, plot points and character arks are introduced without warning and often times not resolved, but hey, it's a Hallmark movie, you can't be mad.

Oof
We're not off to a good start when the lead actor starts with "I'd like to begin this show with an announcement, this is a comedy so please laugh and applaud when it seems appropriate, there's a lot of dry humor." Honestly I don't want to be mean, but the 5 star reviews are dishonest. There was some good acting (particularly by candidate 1 and 2), but overall I'm underwhelmed and confused. For instance, why was one roommate sitting there just eating cereal the whole time? He was an actual person present in all three scenes and never acknowledged, what am I not getting? I could go on.
Company: Flash Grenade Productions
Show: The Flashlight Zone: 20 Science Fiction Plays in One Hour
Venue: Theatre in the Round
The Hour Flies By
List of things I loved about this show: 1. Performances by cast 2. Black, white, and grey costume nod to Twilight Zone 3. Energy and communication between cast and audience. The round is the perfect venue for this! 4. Variety in stories and themes from the 20 shows
Company: Goof Goof
Show: (a) Normal Theatre Play
Venue: Strike Theater
Honestly Nearly Normal
I won't spoil the surprise, but I will say had I known just how normal this production was, I probably would have passed. Don't get me wrong, there was some originality and some good laughs, I just...ugh....I'm so sick of that freaking show.
Company: Gabriel Mata/Movements
Show: DREAMING
Venue: Southern Theater
Undeniably talented dancing, but...
No question the dancing by Gabriel is unreal (enough reason to see the show honestly), but I thought the monologue portions of the show fell flat. What story was he trying to tell? What is the purpose? What am I supposed to leave with? I'm not sure.
Company: Mosaic Productions

Laughing Out Loud
This show isn't going to change your life, but it will certainly make you laugh. A solid play with solid acting. If you need a break from the dramas and fringeness of Fringe, this is a good bet.
Company: Ghoulish Delights, LLC
Show: The Screaming Skull

Wonderfully Spooky
Simply put this show delivers on everything I'm after when we're talking a "horror" show. Excellent acting? Check. Sensical set and props? Check. Scary story? Check. Interesting story? Check. Bravo to all involved!
