I Wish I Hadn't Had to Pee Going Into This One

Having had some long ago D&D experience and a more recent Pathfinder campaign that fell victim to problematic group dynamics, I was kind of the target audience for this show. Up front I was a little fuzzy how much of the show was improv and how much was scripted to get the thing rolling; once it gets going, there's no such question, and it's a blast to watch. My only caveat is I had drinks immediately prior with the friend I took to the show, and was in desperate need of the bathroom from about the halfway mark. I've walked out of two, maybe three Fringe shows in nine years and felt pretty good about it; I had to make an awkward exit five minutes from this show's conclusion, and felt like an awful person. This is a really fun show, and my urinary needs should not be held against it.

A Frenetic, Awkward Good Time

I'm a big fan of British and Irish stand-up acts like Jimmy Carr, Ed Byrne and Dara O'Briain — not just because "wanking" sounds so much cooler than "jerking off", although also that — and am generally a fan of self-deprecating humor, so this show was an easy choice for me. Harris keeps up a madcap pace telling the story that led him to...well, telling this story. If you can keep up with his rapid-fire delivery paired with a British accent, this show's a hell of a ride.

A Delightful Surprise

Having long ago given up my parents' faith in order to sleep later on Sundays, subsequently relegating religion to a curiosity, I came to this show by its description expecting the story of a man's lifelong resistance against indoctrination; the real surprise to me was that what a person believes is less compelling a story to me than why he believes, and I think you can enjoy this show regardless of your own place in the ideological spectrum.
