Magic for Fun and Profit. Well, Fun Anyway
What is magic? Can there be a difference between (real) fake magic and (fake) real magic? These are questions we are now asking about news, so asking them about magic may be especially relevant. In any case, it makes for a a zany, mad-cap, crowd-pleasing show. There seem to be two kinds of magicians here--the old-fashioned version, and a huckster version. The huckster version has puppets on its side. An immensely talented Andrew Friedman plays a three characters named Paul who move between the two worlds. But don't overthink it. Just go and enjoy the fun.

The Hound of Heaven
An unsentimental look at adolescence that is by turns gut-busting and gut-wrenching. With humor, warm tenderness, impressive stage movement, and considerable wisdom, the narrator takes us a journey through an adolescence that is at once perilous and hilarious. Torn between his affection for his alcoholic, atheist father and his mother's slow return to her religious roots, he draws courage and support from understanding adults and raucous friends as he fights his way to a hard-won vision of life and faith.

Not Your Average Escort Service
Serious acting and writing turn soft-porn situation into a moving theatrical experience. What could have been lewdness and leering becomes poignance and insight.
