These kids sure can sing and dance!

I usually avoid kids shows or even just shows that include kids, but when I saw this show had a bunch of well known local talent involved I decided to give it a shot and I am very glad that I did. These kids have charm and charisma to spare and they sing and joke their way through several ups and downs of youthful friendships. I also have to give a shout out to the props, I don't want to spoil anything but you will know what I am talking about when you see it. Company: Hot Chocolate Media
Show: Remy Raygun of the Space Brigade: A Build-Your-Own Space Opera
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

A show that's literally "out of this world"!

I have seen some attempts at choose your own adventure shows with mixed results, but this show knows what it's doing. A space adventure with political parodies and physical humor galore, this interstellar romp is fun for the whole family. Go see it, take the kids, take the parents, take your friends, and take your friends friends! I don't want to give away any plot points here, for more info I have a longer review here: https://shiteraryanalysis.com/2018/08/04/remy-raygun-a-choose-your-own-fringe-review/

Company: Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society
Show: The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society Versus the Nazis
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Go see this show, or the Nazi's win!

I am gonna go out on a limb and assume you are disinclined towards Nazis. THIS IS A SHOW FOR YOU! I was just having a debate about who are the best local character actors, and sure enough the entire cast of this show came up again and again. This is more than an entertaining story about fighting Nazi's, it's something of a historical reenactment of how our parents, and for some of us our parents parents generation experienced the war from their own living rooms with radio shows that would inspire patriotism and transport them to exotic and mysterious adventures both foreign and at home. Sure, it's a show from another era but stories opposed to Nazism are almost timeless it seems.

Company: Snikt! Bamf! Thwip!
Show: A Family Friendly Pulp Fiction (Not Appropriate for Families)
Venue: Theatre in the Round

George Carlin would approve

Why would Carlin love this show? He was infamous for his critique of the 7 words you can't say on TV and the hypocrisy and contradictions of censoring some words over others no matter the intent or underlying meaning. Why does your regular police procedural limit cuss words while at the same time being awash in blood and murder? This show does a masterful job of interweaving commentary on Tarantino, media, and social norms. And here I was only expecting a hilarious parody of Pulp Fiction performed by some of our festivals top comedy performers. Well, it was that too! Company: Navel Gaze Productions
Show: Fringe Orphans 4: Back in the Habit
Venue: Theatre in the Round

A mini fringe fest!

In many ways Fringe Orphans is a microcosm of what is best about Fringe Festival itself. It's mixture of drama and comedy, song and dance, science fiction and social commentary. Go and see this for it's eclectic mix and spirit of fun.
