Great concept not quite realized
With the purest of thematic intentions, this production needed to be fine tuned in the writing and directing; the best moments were those least heavy handed, where the axiom of 'show don't tell'came through--letting the two cultures attempt to find common ground rather than simply asserting that they did after a conflict would have had more impact. The direction did not offer enough in terms of the various ways to communicate: why not use music for the scene transitions? what about actions rather than words? Think about your space and how the proxemics communicates tension and status? Some performance issues with diction and subtext (those who understood both included the characters of Cynthia and the son, Raz) meant that we lost important exposition. With more work, this could become a very strong piece of much needed theatre.

Brilliant Concept, Brilliant Execution
LePage-inspired ideas told through visceral and intelligent choreography. The athleticism of the dancers was powerful and controlled, with total commitment to each moment. This is true performance told physically, each vignette clear in premise and execution. While my (choreographer) companion (who loves Fosse) wished for more 'knowledge of where they were going, I trusted this concept from the get go when the inspired use of technology told me to get carried away by the conceit. Trust that this mesmerizing and thought-provoking set of works will inspire discussion and analysis of ourselves in our society at this moment; every piece was a true commentary on ourselves as a society.
