Best show I have seen so far

Every year at the Fringe, there are certain performers and writers whom I seek out and make a special effort to see their productions. Tim Wick, Duck Washington and Dawn Krosnowski fall into that category and this is among the very best all 3 have been. The script by Tim was hilarious and saved his strongest message for the last few scenes. Duck was great. I loved the little attention to detail, such as the band aid on the back of his head, as Marcellus Wiley had in the original film. Dawn was excellent in the scenes she was in, but, if there was one complaint, I wish she had a larger role. This is one Fringe show you should not miss

Company: Weggel-Reed Productions
Show: Couple Fight: The Musical!
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Good but not great

One of the aspects of this version of Couple Fight (I have seen 2 previous iterations) was the diversity of the performances. There was singing, dancing, and even a rap battle. The first couple was especially good, and I greatly enjoyed the dancing by the Indian couple. Some of the skits just did not work as well, such as the one about an overflowing toilet and a lesbian couple whose fight seemed recycled from the first performer. On the whole, very fun and I would recommend this show

Company: Martin Dockery
Show: Martin Dockery: Delirium
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Solid performance

I am a huge fan of Martin Dockery, and this is the third time I have seen him perform. While I enjoyed this show, I thought some of the themes (especially in the first story about his girlfriend) were a bit repetitive from a previous performance. If you have not seen him before, and think that a guy standing on a stage just telling stories cannot keep an audience captivated, you would be completely wrong. The man has a genuine gift and the only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because of how strong some of his previous performances were.

Company: Flash Grenade Productions
Show: The Flashlight Zone: 20 Science Fiction Plays in One Hour
Venue: Theatre in the Round

An incredible achievement

I will be honest, I did not think they would be able to pull this off. 20 plays in an hour, on a wide variety of subjects? Yet they did. Were all of them great? No, but the worst were merely OK and the best, well, they can elicit strong emotions in a very short time. If you are a fan of Twilight Zone or Black Mirror (from whom a couple of the skits were derived), you will be in awe. This was a great show and an incredible accomplishment. Highly recommended
