Holy Laugh Riot, Batman!

This show was the highlight of my Fringe experience. Superb acting, a quick-witted script, and the best use of the space at TRP that I've seen. Props to the director and fight choreographer for coming up with creative ways of showcasing superhero powers while keeping everyone safe (and the audience at ease). My only criticisms are some of the dialogue got a bit speedy (I'm assuming the abundance of raucous laughter meant they were running short on time), and I certainly wouldn't bring my twelve-year-old (if I had one). But very timely, very hilarious, and very, VERY Fringe.

It Was..."Interesting"

If you're looking for your "show that makes jokes about Minnesota" Fringe experience, then WOW has Emily Schmidt got the show for you! I saw this on a whim because I had a free slot, and it was perfectly fine - fine cast, fine writing, fine plot - but not the laugh riot I was expecting. Maybe I'm not quite the target demographic, or maybe the lackluster show title meant there weren't as many people in the audience to experience the show with me (a title playing on "cherry" probably would have been more effective). All-in-all, not a BAD way to spend a free slot, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.

Hilarious and Brilliant and...True

AMEN LADIES. This show is so incredibly on-point and - sadly - every moment is true. The talent is A+, some of the best I've ever seen at the Fringe. I'm hoping they'll remount this, because I'd be the first in line to see it again. Only, I'd sit in the middle - we were on the side and lost a few moments/jokes/lines due to the Mixed Blood thrust setup. But absolutely top-notch!!

Magic Misstep

The audience around me seemed to enjoy this show, but it left me genuinely confused and feeling like I missed something. Major props to Paul, who alone earns the production 6/10, but the promising beginning left the rest of the show flat. The kicked-around pianist gag got tired fast, and there was not enough magic and too many puppets. Not terrible to fill a slot, but not worth going out of the way for.
