Show: The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged)
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre
Shatner, when he played Kirk said,"Genius doesn’t work on an assembly line basis. . . . You can’t simply say, 'Today I will be brilliant.'" Well, today (or rather Saturday when I saw the show), these actors did just that. The show was absolutely brilliant. It was full of life and heart and laughs.
Company: Grand Island Theatre
Show: Hamlet, but Hamlet's a Chicken
Venue: Minnsky Theatre
Admittedly, I went to this one figuring it might be a bit too gimmicky and thought I would see something cringe-worthy to be ... I don't know ... ironic, that's why we enjoy bad movies and the like. But, what I have to say is I was wrong in that assumption. This show blew my mind. It was amazing. Every turn brought something unexpected and hilarious. I haven't been able to stop talking about this show. It's an absolute must see. I would slide the rating slider past 10 if I could.
Company: Red Dice Collective
Show: Cyrano on the Moon
Venue: Ritz Theater Studio
This show was absolutely brilliant. I adored the concept of following Roxanne into the aftermath of Cyrano's death. The costumes and choreography were brilliant. Brid Henry and Travis Bedard pulled off amazing takes on the complications these characters needed.
