Company: Bill Santiago
Show: The Immaculate Big Bang
Venue: Strike Theater

Incredible stage presence!

Bill was a joy to see. I don't know much about the science side of the Big Bang but he sure does. Bill would be a great person to invite to a party! While he drew no conclusions it was the research efforts he put into his thoughts that were so very interesting. The religion side of his explanations were really humorous. He allowed some audience participation about this aspect and that was really fun for me. Bill's presence on stage was mesmerizing. He could've been teaching us to use floss or maybe how to drive a manual car I still would've listened as closely to him. I really enjoyed his perspective about religion. He's not about telling anybody what they should believe in and he's still figuring it out himself. Anybody learning to do comedy or public speaking should def see his show and see what material preparation and confidence look like. I'm in awe!

Company: Impossible Salt
Show: The Member of Some Gods
Venue: Casket Arts Building

So liberating I loved it!!

This one included the audience as supporting cast members throughout. The story was reverential, solemn, fun, happy, frought with perils and if you're penitent everlasting LIFE! I found it fun to be dead. Kind of like dragging suitcases through an airport and finally finding a spot to keep them. Felt loving like church camp even though it's not Christianity based. Everyone, whom were strangers, were given the encouragement to be together as family, human family, and share some space-in the afterlife. I absolutely adored this one and am looking forward to seeing Impossible Salt's production in Afton.

Company: Concrete Drops
Show: Inescapable
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

C-Word

I enjoyed trying to figure out what the two actors were talking about. The loops in it were intriguing the first few times. They dropped the c-word(crazy) far too much for me. It didn't seem an intentional slight, just a cultural rift, but had me wanting to leave half way through.

Company: On the Verge Theatre
Show: Boobilicious
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Boobed Out

I found this show title wonderfully titilating and was excited to see the show. The show itself talked about not objectifying breasts but ended up doing so. There were no taped nipple and areolas or even swim bikini tops that have printed breasts on them that have been so common at PRIDE lately. There were no mention of men having breasts. In fact the show cited breasts only occurring for women with XX chromosomes. American nudism was deftly avoided. I found the idea and song choices good but its execution fell very short. It was trans and AMAB exclusionary, the song and dance moves not fluid but had an overall friendliness that made it comfortable enough. The prop boobies were oddly missing nipples and scar coloring. I could barely see the seam on the boob prop talked about in the show as the cancer scar. Seemed more of a matinee than an evening show.

Company: Fearnot Dance
Show: Stark Dance: Politics Religion Sex
Venue: Ritz Theater Mainstage

Wow!!

I danced in my seat through all the songs. I wish I could've gotten up on stage and danced with the troupe! It reminded me of a rave. The subject matter was thought provoking. I loved the commercials during the television set. In the strip tease the person in the string bikini had my attention. The athleticism of the entire troupe was inspiring. Just wow!
