Drafts & Draughts
April 9, 2018
Drafts & Draughts is a works-in-progress scratch series at Surly Brewing's Scheid Hall. Presenting performances outside of a theatrical venue in a casual atmosphere provides artists with a supportive audience. Artists work with Fringe staff to design and receive feedback on the specific questions needed to move work forward. Drafts & Draughts runs the genre gamut, featuring theatre, dance, improv, storytelling, spoken word, multidisciplinary work, and more.
April's line-up includes...
Devising ensemble Animal Engine, presenting an excerpt from their new piece, 'The Mountains Did Quake, The Hillsides Did Tremble' based on The Epic of Gilgamesh
Dell'Arte MFA alum Kaitlen Osburn, test driving a new character: Honch, a private detective...who is very bad at his job. Kaitlen will utilize Balinese shadow puppetry and maskwork.
Composer Benjamin Emory Larson and performer/vocalist Jenny LeDoux will share drafted compositions in a classical-crossover style from a larger in-development musical which tells the stories of Emily Dickinson, Ada Lovelace, and Florence Nightgale
All artists (whether part of a previous Fringe program or not) are welcome to apply. Artists interested in being considered should fill out the following form to begin a conversation with Minnesota Fringe's Artistic Director.Artist Submission
