Seeing Sheep Theatre at the Fringe has become and annual event I look forward to for their off the wall, quick-witted hilarious writing, goofy great acting, and all around incredible time. Kaboom delivers on all of these. But because I'm a director, I would be remiss if I didn't focus on the truly beautiful staging. Tackling a thrust stage is a challenge, but Michael Torsch handles it with aplomb. Witch farcical-like pacing, cast members come from almost every door it seems in the theater, transitions contain little details that suggest the movement of story forward even when the lights go out (when one characters tries to run in one direction in black out but is captured and taken a different way), and lastly every stage picture is * chef's kiss.* The most evocative moment for me was that beautiful final stage picture that both indicates the beautiful journey the characters has taken (the cast too), while also echoing the pre-show picture. 💜
