Joshua English ScrimshawPerformer/Creator
Joshua is co-founder of the all-ages theater company Comedy Suitcase, as well as the dance and physical comedy troupe English Scrimshaw Theatrical Novelties. Joshua has been called “a clever and inventive voice in Twin Cities comedy theater” by The Star Tribune, and “a modern day Buster Keaton” by mnartists.org. When not making theater or live radio shows, Joshua can be heard on the Doctor Who podcast Get Off My World (along with many Twin Cities theater nerds). Joshua can also been seen in in this year's festival over at the Rarig Thrust in "The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society Versus the Nazis."
Levi Weinhagen is a writer, producer, performer, podcaster, trainer and educator. He co-founded the all-ages theater company Comedy Suitcase and has created multiple original shows that were in the top 10 of ticket sales at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, including; "Intermediate Physical Comedy for Advanced Beginners," "The Gentlemen's Pratfalls Club," and "The Averagers!" In 2012 Levi was named an Artist of the Year by City Pages. He was the first ever Artist in Residence for the Walker Art Center’s Education and Family programs department in 2014-2015. He instructs young people on comedy writing and performing as a teaching artist with COMPAS. Levi produces and hosts a podcast called ‘Not About You’ that is a serious yet entertaining look at social justice issues in America. He's also a dad with an amazing daughter. Twitter = @ThatLevi
Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen are the creators of Fringe Festival hits "The Harty Boys and the Case of the Limping Platypus," "The Gentlemen's Pratfall Club," "Smothers Brothers Grimm," and "Intermediate Physical Comedy For Advanced Beginners." They entered their names in the 2018 Fringe Festival lottery only to find themselves trapped on the dreaded waiting list. Resigned, they moved on with their summers, Fringeless and forlorn. But on July 10th, a last minute spot opened up. Suddenly Comedy Suitcase was in the Fringe! Now, Levi and Joshua give audiences a peak behind the curtain and show them how they build a show from nothing to finished product live on stage. Broad physical comedy, silent scenes, improvised bits, audiences suggestions and random props they found in their garages all combine to create a comedic delight... or a complete disaster. Come find out!
