Show: Far Away by Caryl Churchill

Possibly better than the original London version

I saw the original production of this play at the Royal Court Theatre in London. This version is better in a variety of ways, and I definitely liked it better than what I saw in London.

Company: Mollywood Productions
Show: Saree-ously Speaking? Uff-Da!
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Nice idea; problematic execution

The premise of this show was excellent. The script was awkward in places. The actors were difficult to hear at times. The first dance number was very choppy, and the last dance mumber, which looked to be excellent, we cut off because the show was running over time. Maybe later performances will overcome these problems.

Company: Pacific Midwest Ballet
Show: Zombies And Pirouettes
Venue: Southern Theater

Nice piece, well performed

This was both an interesting concept and nicely executed. I wasn’t blown away, but I’m happy to have seen it.

Company: Wit and Wisdom of Will Rogers
Show: Wit and Wisdom of Will Rogers
Venue: Minnsky Theatre

Interesting but didn’t excite me

There’s nothing wrong with this show, but I probably wouldn’t have used a slot if I had known what I would see

Company: Albino Squirrel Productions
Show: Doug Sees God: A Funnie Thing Happened on the Way to Adulthood
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Good idea, less than great execution

I liked the idea of this show, and it was why it was the first one I saw at this year's fringe, but ... the direction and the acting left much to be desired--often awkward and forced. Too much time spent moving stuff on and off stage. I would have skipped it if I had known what I would see.

Company: Bittersweet Arts Co.
Show: Forsythian Dweller's Club
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Fast paced, and on point

We live in the world of branding and over-branding. This show made its point well. Reminded me of some old Ionesco plays. It also brought to mind a certain quasi-religious organization. I enjoyed this show a lot.

Company: Mosaic Productions
Show: Hidden in This Picture
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Very well done; excellent script

I enjoyed this show a lot. It always helps to have an established script, but you've also got to have good direction and a strong cast. This had both.

Company: Sheep Theater
Show: Kaboom
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Great fun!

This show features many wacko characters, all performed enthusiastically and well. I loved the idea of having an ambition to be an insurance agent. It was a great way to wrap up the first evening of this year's fringe.

Company: Custer & Schmidt
Show: Our Best Life
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Great fun; Shanan goes it alone

Shanan is always fun and this show of sketch comedy shows her many talents. The sketches did vary some in how well they worked.

Company: Sidecar Theatre
Show: Summers in Prague
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Excellent script, excellent acting
