Contradictory Story Telling

Beautiful choreography and masterful dance are woven around a sweet, spoken narrative of a girl who practiced witchcraft when she was young. I enjoyed the first half, but became uncomfortable, beginning with the love arc. I was unsettled by their cry that the innocent burned at Salem, followed immediately by stories of witches who cast spells to torture their enemies. By the end of the show, I wasn't quite sure who were the bad guys: the offenders or the witches. (And no, the rule of three was not mentioned) While I love dark content and melancholic pieces, I would want to see continuity in the message and story they're telling.

A Dynamic Ride

The concept of this piece has a subtle different from other pieces like it: the character emotional arcs and the reveals along the way. The performers do a phenomenal job portraying the characters of this piece and execute the script at, honestly, a mind blowing pace! Mind benders are always my favorite and this one gave me a run for my money. Well. Done.

The Super Hero Story of the Summer!

There aren't enough words to express how much I loved this show. Between the amazing acting talents of the cast, the characterizations of the leads, the harmonies and perfect ambiance of the ensemble, and the dynamic story, this is simply a fantastic piece. Be sure not to miss this amazing tale that, more likely than not, will make you question your super hero identity as well!

Everything You Want a D&D Show To Be

If you've gone Fringing a fair amount, you've seen the D&D shows, whether live or scripted, where the players stay in one place and most of the show is talking. Please understand, THIS IS NOT THAT SHOW. Swords and Sorcery brings the players to life in a long form improv style whose creators and performers clearly rolled a D20 in performance and insight. Each character is on their feet, moving swiftly from scene to scene, and forging a hilarious and dramatic tale of ... that's right... a Spaghetti tube top (as was the audience's suggestion). When the improvisers come to a fork in the road, or they want to attack another player, the scene kicks into slow mo as they check in with the DM. Whether you're a self respecting geek, or you're honest with yourself, this show is not to be missed!

Company: Monster Science Productions
Show: What To Do In Case Of Dinosaur Attack
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

Everything You Wish College Could Have Been...

Don't we all wish our professors' lectures could have left us in stitches by minute 20, reduced to wheezing tears by minute 40, and required an inhaler by the end? The only danger in seeing this show is laughing too hard as the masterful wordsmith, Matt Kessen, takes you through this hilarious detailing of pre-historic and post-Jurassic Park dinosaurs. Kessen blends pop culture, true facts, and stand up comedy that will leave you fully prepared to take on the impending dinosaur attack.
